Richmond teen pleads guilty to student’s death

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A Richmond teenager is facing up to 44 years in prison for the fatal shooting of a Virginia Union University student who was returning to his apartment after leading a late-night study session.

Willie Daquan Lee pleaded guilty on Monday in Richmond Circuit Court in the Feb. 23 shooting of 20-year-old Kahron M. Lee of Woodbridge. They are not related.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/1szARNp) that Lee faces at least 26-plus years in prison and possibly as many as 44 as a result of his pleas. He turns 19 on Tuesday.

A grand jury in Richmond in March indicted Lee on charges of first-degree murder, robbery and two felony firearms counts.

Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 24.
