Recycling company opening operation in Va.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A recycling company is planning to invest $4.2 million for an operation in Lunenburg County, creating 30 jobs.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe said Monday that Global Refining Group Inc. is establishing a catalytic convertor recycling operation in Kenbridge.

Global Refining Group is a sister company of ABC Recycling, which recycles vehicles, scrap metals and catalytic converters.

McAuliffe approved a $100,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund for the project. The Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission also approved $145,000 in funding.

Officials say Virginia successfully competed against Connecticut and New York for the project.
