Police shoot man in Bladensburg

WASHINGTON — A man was shot after a confrontation with the police in Bladensburg, Maryland, early Monday morning.

Prince George’s County police say a man with a large knife approached the officers on Annapolis Road shortly after midnight.

The man was ordered to drop his weapon, but refused. Officers then used a Taser to try to subdue the man, but that didn’t work. A police spokesman says one of the officers shot the suspect after he went after the officers.

The man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The police officer has been placed on administrative leave, which is customary in officer-involved shootings.
