DOVER, Del. (AP) — A Delaware panel has agreed to provide up to $1.3 million in taxpayer money to poultry producer Perdue Foods for expansion of its processing plant in Milford.

Delaware’s Council on Development Finance approved a performance grant Monday of up to $700,000 to Perdue Farms Inc. for creating jobs. The panel also approved a capital expenditure grant of up to $600,000.

Officials say Perdue plans to add 350 workers by September at its Milford plant, which will process organically grown chicken under the name of Coleman Natural Foods.

After buying Coleman in 2011, Perdue Farms announced earlier this year that it was closing Coleman’s Booth Creek Natural Chicken processing plant in Fredericksburg, Pennsylvania, and moving production elsewhere.
