Marte leaves Pirates to attend to personal matter

CHICAGO (AP) — The Pittsburgh Pirates will be without Starling Marte for a couple days while the speedy outfielder attends to a personal matter in his native Dominican Republic.

Manager Clint Hurdle says he thinks Marte will be back in time for Monday night’s game at Tampa Bay. Jose Tabata got the start in left for Saturday night’s game at the Chicago Cubs.

Marte went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts in Pittsburgh’s 6-3 loss at Wrigley Field on Friday. He is batting .258 with five homers, 26 RBIs and 17 steals in 70 games this season.
