Panthers sign OT Chandler, 2 others to extensions

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Panthers have extended the contracts of offensive tackle Nate Chandler and two other players.

Chandler, who’s competing with Byron Bell for the starting left tackle spot, received a three-year contract extension. Defensive end Mario Addison and safety Colin Jones received two-year contract extensions.

The team announced the extensions Wednesday, but didn’t release financial terms.

Chandler started the final eight games last season on the offensive line after spending his rookie season playing defensive tackle. With Chandler in the lineup, the Panthers rushed for at least 100 yards in seven of their final eight games.

Addison, a three-year NFL veteran, played in 16 games last season and had 14 tackles and 2.5 sacks and 15 quarterback pressures.

Jones tied for the team lead with 10 special teams tackles last year.
