Orioles activate Gonzalez from DL

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles have activated right-hander Miguel Gonzalez from the 15-day disabled list.

The move was announced before Tuesday night’s game against Tampa Bay. Gonzalez had been out since May 31 with a strained right oblique.

To make roon on the roster for Gonzalez, reliever Josh Stinson was designated for assignment. Also, catcher Matt Wieters had season-ending right elbow ligament replacement surgery Tuesday.

The Orioles are hopeful that Wieters will be ready for openng day next year. He finishes the season with a .308 batting average, five homers and 18 RBIs in 26 games.
