SUV crashes into police cruiser in Loudoun County (Photo)

WASHINGTON — A police cruiser was crushed when a SUV flew over a median and landed on the cruiser on a Loudoun County roadway Monday morning.

The SUV crashed into the cruisers along Route 7 near South King Street in Loudoun County at about 7 a.m.

Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office says the driver of the SUV fell asleep at the wheel and the vehicle rolled up an embankment, traveled through the air and landed on the cruiser.

No one was seriously injured, according to officials.

The driver has been charged with reckless driving.

The crash caused some delays during the morning rush hour.
