Red Sox minor league pitcher suspended

NEW YORK (AP) — Boston Red Sox minor league pitcher Miguel Pena has been suspended for 100 games for a third positive test for a drug of abuse.

The commissioner’s office announced the penalty on Monday for violating baseball’s minor league drug program.

The 23-year-old Pena is 2-2 with a 6.41 ERA in 13 starts for Double-A Portland this season.

The suspension is effective immediately.
