Livability.com ranks D.C. among its 10 best cities for foodies

Washington barely makes the cut in a Top 10 Foodie Cities list from Livability.com, coming in at No. 10.

Livability compiled the list based on how often families eat out and what they spend at local restaurants. It also weighed access to healthy foods, the number of established farmers markets, and restaurants that use local ingredients. It also considered the number of critically acclaimed restaurants and winners of James Beard Foundation awards.

“Our nation’s capital has become a capital of food, one with a much higher approval rating that Congress could ever hope for,” Livability says. “Washington, D.C., residents frequently eat at locally owned restaurants and spend more than the average American on food.”
