Mariners 1B Morrison leaves with cut above eye

SEATTLE (AP) — Mariners first baseman Logan Morrison left Sunday’s game against the Texas Rangers after he hurt himself slamming his bat against the dugout wall.

The display occurred after a flyout in the fifth inning. A piece of the bat broke off and caused a cut above his left eye that needed five stitches.

Morrison says he acted “like a 3 year old,” and is embarrassed for what happened. He says he didn’t want to come out of the game, “but they saw me gushing blood from my eyebrow.”

Catcher John Buck made his first major league appearance at first base replacing Morrison.

Seattle went on to a 5-1 win.
