Padres put LHP Patton on DL, promote Hahn to start

NEW YORK (AP) — The San Diego Padres have put left-handed reliever Troy Patton on the 15-day disabled list because of shoulder soreness and have promoted righty Jesse Hahn from Double-A to start against the New York Mets.

The Padres made the moves before Saturday’s game at Citi Field.

Patton is 0-1 with a 5.14 ERA in 17 games for San Diego and Baltimore. The Padres got him in late May in a trade that sent catcher Nick Hundley to the Orioles.

The 24-year-old Hahn made his big league debut on June 3, and was the losing pitcher after giving up four runs and six hits in 3 2-3 innings against Pittsburgh. Hahn is 2-1 with a 2.11 ERA with Double-A San Antonio.

Hahn was a high school teammate of injured Mets ace Matt Harvey in Groton, Connecticut.
