Braves’ Heyward hit on hand by pitch, leaves game

ATLANTA (AP) — Atlanta Braves right fielder Jason Heyward left Friday night’s game against the Los Angeles Angels with a bruised right hand after being hit by a pitch from C.J. Wilson.

The Braves said X-rays were negative and Heyward’s status is day to day.

Heyward was hit on the top of his hand leading off the first inning. He scored on a three-run homer by Evan Gattis, but Jordan Schafer pinch hit for him in the second inning.

Heyward is hitting .254 with seven homers, 23 RBIs and nine stolen bases. He has reached base in 29 of 32 games since May 9.
