Va. couple charged after toddler shoots twin

HOPEWELL, Va. (AP) — A Hopewell woman and her boyfriend face charges after her 3-year-old son accidentally shot his twin brother.

Hopewell police tell media outlets that the toddler found a loaded handgun in the family’s apartment on Monday and shot his brother in the buttocks. The injured boy is recovering at VCU Medical Center.

Police are searching for the twins’ mother, 28-year-old Reashonda Sharelle Jones, and her boyfriend, 29-year-old Lewis Walter Jones. Both are charged with felony child neglect.

Reashona Jones also is charged with filing a false police report and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Lewis Jones also is charged with obstruction of justice and evidence tampering.
