Miss Indiana talks about her curves (Video)

WASHINGTON — Miss Indiana USA Mekayla Diehl made a splash on social media after showing off her curves during the Miss USA pageant Sunday.

While the 25-year-old didn’t make it to the semi-finals, many people tweeted that they are happy she’s not a twig.

Diehl was 25 pounds heavier than the average contestant this year.

“I’m glad I look womanly,” Diehl says.

Diehl recently told an Indiana television station that she had been abused when she was younger.

“I was 8 years old when I was sexually abused,” Diehl tells WNDU. “Very quickly after that we moved in with my grandmother and eventually was adopted.”

Diehl, who works with young women who have been abused, spoke about her figure and about about her own experience.
