Diener returns to Marquette under Wojciechowski

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Travis Diener is coming home to Marquette after wrapping up his playing career overseas.

Diener returned Wednesday as director of player personnel under Steve Wojciechowski, completing the coaching staff for the first-year head coach.

Diener was a sophomore on the 2003 Marquette team led by Dwyane Wade that lost to Kansas in the Final Four. He ranks sixth at Marquette in career scoring (1,691 points), second in 3-pointers (284) and third in assists (617).

A Wisconsin native from Fond du Lac, Diener was drafted in the second round in 2005 by Orlando. He played five seasons in the NBA before going to Italy to continue his professional career.

Diener joins Chris Carrawell, Justin Gainey and Brett Nelson on Wojciechowski’s staff.
