SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — A man from the tiny town of Sprague, Washington, was among five soldiers killed in this week’s friendly fire airstrike in Afghanistan.

Family members say 22-year-old Justin Clouse died in Monday’s attack.

Clouse was a multi-sport athlete at Sprague High School, about 30 miles west of Spokane. He enrolled in the Army shortly after graduating.

Orville Clouse on Wednesday said his grandson was planning to leave the military next spring and get married.

Orville Clouse says his grandson was an “awesome” young man who loved sports and the outdoors.
