Gunman, student killed in shooting

TROUTDALE, Ore. (AP) — A gunman and a student are dead after a shooting today at a high school near Portland, Oregon.

Authorities say there were reports of shots fired at 8 a.m. today at Reynolds High School in Troutdale.

Students say they were told over the intercom that there was a lockdown and that they should quietly go to their classrooms. They were then evacuated from the school, hands on their heads, to be reunited with their parents in a supermarket parking lot.

One 15-year-old student says he saw a physical education teacher at the school with a bloodied shirt. Another 15-year-old says she was hunkered down in a locker room with another student and two teachers.

A TV station (KGW) reported that teams were going through the school, room by room. Police set up tape around the area, and were not allowing people to pass through.
