WASHINGTON — The long-anticipated iWatch may be hitting Apple stores as early as October.

While rumors have surrounded the official release of the new Apple device, the Japanese newspaper Nikkei says that the iWatch is expected to hit the market this fall.

While Nikkei was not able to confirm the final specs for the device, various media outlets report it will likely feature a curved OLED touchscreen and be able to collect health data, including sleep activity and calorie consumption. The iWatch will also sync with iOS operating devices.

According to a parts manufacturer, Apple is planning a commercial output of 3 to 5 million units per month, potentially placing the iWatch at the top of global sales for smart watches compared to last year.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports the device will cost between $199 and $229.

Tech competitors including Samsung, Sony and Google are also creating similar watch-like gadgets to rival Apple’s long awaited health-monitoring iWatch.
