Man sentenced for role in officer’s death in Md.

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) — Prosecutors say a Fort Washington man has pleaded guilty to motor vehicle manslaughter for his role in the death of a Prince George’s County police officer as well as a charge of witness intimidation.

Prosecutors say Kevon Neal pleaded guilty on Monday and was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Prosecutors said Neal and another man stole a car and fled police in 2012. Officer Adrian Morris died after a crash during the pursuit.

Prosecutors also accused Neal of sending a letter from jail soliciting a hit against a witness who testified at his trial in January that ended in a mistrial.

A telephone message left Monday for Neal’s attorney requesting comment was not immediately returned.
