James Madison board approves property acquisition

HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) — James Madison University plans to acquire an undeveloped 60-acre parcel in Harrisonburg.

The university’s Board of Visitors on Friday approved buying the property for $4.3 million. The property is about 2 miles south of the campus.

James Madison spokesman Bill Wyatt tells The Daily News-Record (http://bit.ly/1nsTQDU ) that there are no immediate plans for the property.

Wyatt says property will provide flexibility to accommodate future growth on James Madison’s main campus.
