James Madison board approves tuition, fee hikes

HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) — In-state tuition and fees at James Madison University will increase by $302 for the upcoming academic year.

Virginia residents will pay $5,406 in tuition and fees. Out-of-state students will pay $20,266, a $684 increase.

Graduate student fees also will increase. Virginia residents will pay an additional $24 per credit hour, while out-of-state students will pay another $40.

Room and board will increase by $309 to $8,828.

The Daily News-Record (http://bit.ly/1lg8RbY ) reports that the university’s Board of Visitors unanimously approved the increases on Friday.

Board members also approved a $502.4 million budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1.
