Dogfish Head expanding in Delaware, beyond

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. (AP) — Dogfish Head Craft Brewery is expanding its presence in southern Delaware and is adding to the number of states where its beer is distributed.

The Daily Times (http://delmarvane.ws/1lgdMtE ) reports the brewery expects to open its new Dogfish Inn in downtown Lewes in July.

Dogfish founder and President Sam Calagione says he hopes to bring more attention to the beauty of coastal Delaware by helping people get out into nature with outdoor activities.

The brewery also purchased the property next to its Rehoboth Beach brewpub in December and plans to expand to help alleviate summer crowds. Calagione says expanding will bring more people to the resort town and will help fellow businesses.

Dogfish also is expanding its reach. It dropped distribution in four states in 2011 but recently re-entered those markets.
