Astros recall LHP Rudy Owens from Triple-A

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Houston Astros recalled left-hander Rudy Owens from Triple-A Oklahoma City and sent down right-handed reliever Paul Clemens on Sunday.

Owens, who started his first major league game with the Astros on May 23, will pitch out of the bullpen.

“If we were to run into a tough situation where we needed someone to give us extended innings, he would be able to be the long guy we would use,” Astros manager Bo Porter said.

Clemens allowed four runs in Saturday’s loss to Minnesota and has gone between Triple-A and the majors six times this season.
