Phillies call up INF Ronny Cedeno

CINCINNATI (AP) — The Philadelphia Phillies promoted infielder Ronny Cedeno for the start of their series against the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night.

Cedeno batted .286 with a homer and 20 RBIs for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He signed a minor league deal with the Phillies in the offseason, was released in March and then signed another contract.

Left-hander Cesar Jimenez was designated for assignment to the minors. Jimenez appeared in two games and threw two hitless innings.
