NORAD holds training exercises in D.C. area

WASHINGTON — If you heard jets in the sky in the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday in the area, you weren’t imagining it — but it’s nothing to worry about, either.

NORAD — the North American Aerospace Defense Command — says it conducted exercises until 5:30 a.m. in the National Capital Region. Aircraft used in the exercise include Civil Air Patrol planes, Air Force F-16s and a Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter.

Weather permitting, they’ll do it again the same hours Thursday.
