HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is releasing a description of human remains found in a wooded area near Hagerstown last month in hopes that someone can help identify the man.

The agency said Wednesday that investigators believe the decomposed remains are those of a white male in his early 50s, approximately 6 feet tall. The skull shows evidence of an old fracture on the left side of the face that was medically treated.

The body was dressed in red shorts, black undershorts, and a green- or blue-and-yellow striped, short-sleeve shirt.

The cause of death is undetermined.

The remains were found May 4, partially submerged in Marsh Run, a tributary of Antietam Creek, near Loose Lane in the unincorporated community of Fiddlersburg, just east of the city.
