Allegiant to end flights from Newport News airport

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) — Allegiant says it will end flights from Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport on Aug. 11.

The airline says it will contact customers who have reservations beyond the end date and give them a full refund.

Media outlets report that Allegiant announced its decision on Tuesday.

Allegiant began service from the airport on Nov. 16, 2011.
