WASHINGTON — Rockville residents, rejoice. Your time has come.

In 2009, on “Arlington: The Rap,” a group of proud locals declared Arlington as a city you didn’t want to mess with. “So when people tell me ‘Remy, where you callin’ from’, I say ‘a straight-up thug town called Arlington.'”

We’re not saying it was a parody, but you can’t say “thug” while flashing exterior shots of Crate & Barrel and Williams-Sonoma in the video.

Out now, a rapper named Rockville Slim has responded with his own city-themed track, according to the Washington City Paper.

First off, the beat sounds like a relic of the 1980s; the rapper looks like he’s wearing a fur coat from Joe Namath’s collection. But dig into the song, and Slim shouts out local landmarks like Ultimate Garage and Montgomery College.

“I’m putting the Rock back in Rockville,” the rapper proclaims, “and I’m putting the ILL back in Rockville.”
