Fla. man charged with abusing 4 girls in Stafford Co.

WASHINGTON – A Florida man faces dozens of charges for sexually assaulting four girls while he lived in Stafford County in the 1990s.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office says that a local grand jury indicted Thomas F. Villacres, 53, of Rockledge, Florida, on 48 counts of aggravated sexual battery, 48 counts of indecent liberties with a minor while in a supervisory role and 15 counts of object penetration.

Villacres was arrested Monday night by sheriff’s officers in Florida. He remains in jail awaiting extradition to Virginia.

The sexual abuse case surfaced while Villacres was undergoing a routine background check with the federal government. Federal officials contacted the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, which began to investigate.

The four girls were between the ages of 6 and 10 at the time and are now in their 20s. The abuse occurred during an eight-year period, according to the sheriff’s office.
