CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — Scaffolding is going up at the University of Virginia in preparation for a roof replacement project.

The university says in a news release that replacement of the East Range rooms’ roofs will begin June 9. Installation of scaffolding will begin Monday morning.

W.A. Lynch Roofing Co. of Charlottesville will replace the slate roofs, flashings, ridge caps and gutters.

The university’s historic preservation project manager, James D. W. Zehmer, says Hotel D’s seam metal roof also will be replaced.

The project is expected to be completed by Sept. 27.
