Police looking for suspect in Gaithersburg assault

WASHINGTON — Police in Gaithersburg are seeking the public’s help identifying a suspect after a May 27 assault.

Around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a 17-year-old girl was jogging on the trail in the woods of Malcolm King Park when the suspect approached her from behind. Using a knife, he tried to pull her to the ground. A physical altercation occurred and the victim got away.

The suspect fled into the woods.

The man is described as Hispanic, 5 feet 5 inches tall, 150 pounds and between 15-19 years old. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweater with khaki pants and a black backpack.

A composite sketch has been created.
