OF Mike Trout out of lineup 2nd straight game

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles Angels slugger Mike Trout missed a second straight game Sunday with upper back stiffness.

Trout says he feels better than he did Saturday when he was a late scratch but is still “a little bit stiff.”

Trout was available as a pinch-hitter but did not play in Sunday’s 6-3 loss to Oakland. Trout is expected back in the lineup Tuesday when the Angels open a series at Houston.

Trout is batting .294 with 11 home runs and 38 RBIs this season.

The Angels also will get slugger Josh Hamilton back this week. Hamilton will join the team in Houston and will be activated Tuesday for the first time since tearing a ligament in his left thumb sliding headfirst into first base April 8.

Los Angeles optioned right-hander Jarrett Grube to Triple-A Salt Lake after the game to make room for Hamilton.
