Jang wins Mizuno Open to qualify for British Open

OKAYAMA, Japan (AP) — Jang Dong-kyu of South Korea shot a 3-under 69 Sunday to win the Mizuno Open and qualify for the British Open.

Jang carded five birdies against a pair of bogeys to finish at 15-under, three shots ahead of Juvic Pagunsan of the Philippines who also qualified for the Open along with South Korean Kim Hyung-tae and Japan’s Tomohiro Kondo.

The 25-year-old Jang will make his first appearance in a major at the British Open at Royal Liverpool from July 17-20.

Kim shot the day’s lowest round of 66 to finish one stroke behind Pagunsan and level with Kondo, who shot a 67.

The Mizuno Open is the fourth stage in the Open qualifying series that consists of 14 events. The next event will be The Irish Open from June 19-22.
