WASHINGTON — After a rough winter of expensive heating bills, relief could come in the form of a cookout.

According to the Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative, it might be worth doing more grilling outdoors, because cooking inside could raise your kitchen’s temperature by 10 degrees.

As a result, you’d need to run the air conditioner a bit longer to keep your house cool.

Instead, use a microwave to cook and keep the curtains drawn to beat the sun’s heat. It could go a long way to saving you money.
