Angels’ Trout scratched with back stiffness vs A’s

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles Angels slugger Mike Trout has been scratched from the lineup against the Oakland Athletics because of upper back stiffness.

Trout was initially batting second as the designated hitter instead of his usual spot in center field Saturday night. Manager Mike Scioscia says Trout is not sure how the injury occurred but it started bothering him earlier Saturday.

C.J. Cron was the new designated hitter and batting sixth. Grant Green moved up from sixth to second in the order.

Trout is batting .294 with 11 home runs and 38 RBIs this season.
