Prince George’s police fatally shoot 20-year-old

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) — Police in Prince George’s County say a 20-year-old is dead after being shot by officers when he refused to drop a pellet gun that looked like an assault rifle.

Police say they were called to an apartment complex in the 3300 block of Curtis Drive on Friday around 2:15 a.m. for a report of a dispute involving a person armed with a gun. Police say when they arrived, officers ordered the man to drop his weapon. When he didn’t, officers shot him. Police say two pellet guns were recovered from the scene.

Police did not identify the man who was shot. Two officers involved in the shooting were not injured.

An investigation is ongoing.
