Body discovered in burning Bowie home

BOWIE, Md. – Fire crews in Prince George’s County found the body of a man inside a burning home in Bowie early Thursday.

The fire broke out in the 6400 block of Grendel Place about 11 p.m. Wednesday.

When they arrived, fire crews found flames shooting from the roof of the home and all floors of the home on fire.

According to Fire Chief Marc Bashoor, who posted updates on his Twitter account, firefighters encountered ammunition stored in the house that forced them to be exceptionally cautious while battling the flames.

After crews contained the fire, they discovered the man dead on the second floor.

Authorities haven’t said what may have caused the fire or identified the person who died.
