Marlins place reliever Capps on disabled list

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Miami Marlins have put right-handed reliever Carter Capps on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right elbow and say he’ll be out for at least a month.

The Marlins recalled right-hander Arquimedes Caminero from Triple-A New Orleans before Tuesday night’s game at Washington.

Manager Mike Redmond said Capps had some tenderness in the elbow after pitching one inning Sunday in a loss to Milwaukee.

“We feel right now like it’s something that can be treated with rest,” Redmond said. “He’s going to go four weeks without throwing. … He’ll be down for an extended period of time, then we’ll start building him back up and see where we’re at.”

Capps was 0-0 with a 3.00 ERA in nine games. In five appearances with the Marlins this season, Caminero is 0-1 with a 13.5 ERA.
