Argentina starts World Cup preparations

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — Argentina has started its World Cup preparations behind closed doors.

Argentine soccer officials said Monday only Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria was missing from the 26 players called up by coach Alejandro Sabella for training in the Buenos Aires suburb of Ezeiza.

Before traveling to Brazil, Argentina has warmup games against Trinidad and Tobago on June 4 and against Slovenia on June 7.

Argentina, led by Lionel Messi, opens against Bosnia-Herzegovina in Rio de Janeiro on June 15, followed by matches in Group F with Iran and Nigeria.
