GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) — Montgomery County Police say a man found dead in a retention pond near Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg was reported missing last week.

Police announced Wednesday that the family members helped identify the man as 22-year-old Maurice Munford Jr. of Germantown, who was reported missing on Friday. He was last seen Thursday in the area of the mall and police say a passer-by reported seeing the body in the lake on Tuesday morning.

The body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to determine the cause and manner of death.
