Mariners DH Hart out with strained left hamstring

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Mariners designated hitter Corey Hart will miss four to six weeks with a strained left hamstring.

Hart was placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to Monday. Seattle recalled infielder-outfielder Nick Franklin from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday to take Hart’s place on the roster.

The 32-year-old Hart injured his leg while stealing second base during the fourth inning of the Mariners’ 6-2 victory at Minnesota on Sunday. He has appeared in 37 games, hitting .209 with five home runs and 17 RBIs.

With no one other natural DH on the roster, manager Lloyd McClendon says he will mix and match to fill Hart’s vacancy in the batting order.
