Jon Stewart lambasts Shinseki’s response to VA firestorm

WASHINGTON – Jon Stewart took aim at Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki during Monday night’s “Daily Show” saying the general hadn’t done enough during his five-year tenure to address the backlog that has delayed benefits and is now curtailing the medical care veterans receive.

“You don’t look mad,” Stewart said, poking fun at the secretary’s statements during a congressional hearing last week. “Your mad-as-hell face looks a lot like your ‘Oh we’re out of organge juice’ face.”

He also took at aim at President Barack Obama’s chief of staff Denis McDonough who said the president is “madder than hell and I’ve got the scars to prove it,” on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

“I’m sure the story of how you got those scars will really impress those guys waiting at the VA for treatment,” Stewart quipped. “…I got this when some spittle hit me in the eyebrow.”
