Spotsylvania death investigated as homicide

SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. (AP) — Police are investigating the death of a Spotsylvania County woman as a homicide.

Radio station WFLS (http://bit.ly/1kif1YQ ) reports that 58-year-old Nancy Mercer’s employer called the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office late Sunday night after she didn’t show up for work. Deputies went to Mercer’s home and found her body.

The body has been sent to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.

The cause of death and other details haven’t been released.
