ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Online court records show that a midshipman at the Naval Academy has received probation before judgment after being accused of threatening a cab driver with a butter knife.
Court officials tell The Capital of Annapolis (http://bit.ly/1o0evS9) that 22-year-old Midshipman 2nd Class Gabriel Voumard of Cape May, New Jersey, pleaded guilty last week to reckless endangerment.
Voumard’s lawyer, Edward Brady, says prosecutors dropped first- and second-degree assault charges.
Police say on April 22, the cabbie picked up two men from an Annapolis bar early Sunday, but when they arrived at Bay Head Road, the men said they needed to get cash from a residence.
The cabbie told police that Voumard returned with a knife and ran aggressively toward him. Police say officers found a butter knife on top of the cab.
