Chesapeake Bay Bridge reopens after truck fire

SANDY POINT, Md. (AP) — The eastbound span of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge has reopened after a tractor trailer fire closed the span overnight.

The Maryland Transportation Authority Police say the driver wasn’t injured in the fire Sunday night.

Eastbound traffic was diverted on the westbound span overnight, causing delays in both directions. After crews inspected the span overnight, the authority tweeted early Monday that the eastbound span has reopened.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
