Indianapolis signs top draft pick Jack Mewhort

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis signed second-round draft pick Jack Mewhort on Friday.

The 6-foot-6, 309-pound offensive lineman from Ohio State was chosen No. 59 overall last week and is expected to compete for playing time at guard and center.

The signing comes on the same day Indy opened a three-day rookie mini-camp. On Thursday, the Colts signed sixth-round pick Andrew Jackson and seventh-round pick Ulrick John. Jackson is a linebacker from Western Kentucky. John is an offensive lineman from Georgia State.

That leaves receiver Donte Moncrief, a third-round pick, as the only unsigned draftee.

Indy waived offensive tackle Erik Pike and cornerback Darius Polk and made three promotions in the scouting department.
