Police: Vehicle outside Bank of England is safe

LONDON (AP) — Police investigating a suspicious vehicle left near the Bank of England building say it is safe and that roads in the area have been reopened to pedestrians.

The bank moved its staff to safe areas earlier Thursday after a car was apparently abandoned in the middle of the road near the building in London’s busy financial district.

City of London Police briefly cordoned off parts of the district, and the subway station Bank was also partly closed during the investigation.

Police say roads in the area remain closed to traffic. They did not give further details.
