BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore officials are working to brace a city block that caved in two weeks ago, swallowing eight cars and a streetlight, before an impending storm promising at least two inches of rain.

Officials say crews have been dispatched to 26th Street in Charles Village to install a raised barrier to divert rain water from the site of the May 1 landslide. Crews are also securing plastic sheeting over the lip of the slope and temporarily sealing drill holes to prevent flooding.

The city block collapsed during a storm that delivered five inches of rain to some parts of Baltimore. Residents were evacuated, and have not yet been permitted to return to their homes. Some residents have blamed neglect, not inclement weather, for the street collapse.
