GLEN BURNIE, Md. (AP) — A Glen Burnie man is facing prison time after acknowledging making homemade explosives.

According to a plea agreement entered Thursday, 28-year-old Todd Dwight Wheeler acknowledged that in January he was taken to the hospital with a cut and burns to his left hand. The plea agreement says officials later found improvised explosive devices at the Anne Arundel County home of Wheeler’s grandmother, where he often stayed.

Officials previously said that a search of the home turned up more than 100 pounds of chemicals and extensive damage would have resulted if homemade bombs found in a home had detonated.

Wheeler pleaded guilty to being a prohibited person in possession of firearms and faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. Sentencing is set for Sept. 8.
